AlumnUSB

Who we are

We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3), organization in the United States of America (under the legal name Universidad Simón Bolívar Alumni Association of America, Inc.) that provides a platform for alumni to connect and support the Universidad Simón Bolívar (Venezuela).

If you live in the United States, your donations to AlumnUSB may be tax-deductible on your federal tax return. You can request a donation receipt by emailing [email protected]. For more details related to your deductions, please consult with your accountant.

Since November 2015, we have raised funds, donated equipment, books, services, supplies, and created scholarships and awards for professors, thus earning recognition from the University’s Authorities, Deans, Directors, students, faculty, and staff.

Mission

Our Mission is to enhance USB’s ongoing educational activities by becoming the main donation and networking entity for USB. We will do this by raising funds and promoting networking among USB alumni, universities, and private organizations in the United States.

Vision

To allow USB to maintain academic excellence with the support of its alumni worldwide and organizations in the United States.

  • To assist USB in achieving its strategic goals by any means within the methods specified by the State of Massachusetts and U.S. federal laws.
  • To foster relationships between USB and U.S. universities in pursuit of greater knowledge through joint projects, information sharing, and student and faculty exchanges.
  • To establish connections with private sector organizations in the United States that focus on education and related matters.

Why are we doing this?

95% of the income for public universities in Venezuela comes from government sources, which have decreased by 90% (inflation adjusted) since the early 2000s. It is time for Venezuelan universities, particularly USB, to seek new sources of funding.

By using a nonprofit organization platform based in the United States, donations are not limited to individuals; larger groups or companies can also donate without the restrictions faced in Venezuela, increasing the positive impact on USB’s educational activities.

AlumUSB allows alumni to build networks that support their Alma Mater by providing funds, or by supplying educational materials and equipment. This ensures that the quality of education does not decline due to the severe economic, political, and social situation affecting Venezuela.
