Legacy Programs

2016

  • The first donation to USB: Donation of 17 video-beam projection devices to USB. AlumnUSB demonstrated the power of the “Uesebista” network around the world by reaching the goal in just 3 months.
  • Repair of the central air conditioning chiller at the Litoral Campus: This equipment is vital for academic activities at the Litoral Campus due to the high temperatures in the area. In a matter of months we raised the funds necessary to repair the equipment that worked correctly for more than 6 years.
  • Support for DACE: Criminals attacked the Department of Admission and Control of Studies (DACE), taking 11 computers, office supplies, among other things. Upon hearing this unfortunate news, AlumnUSB raised in one month the equivalent of US$10,000 in computer and printing equipment, as well as a security and alarm system to prevent the incident from happening again, thus safeguarding the data of students and more than 35,000 former AlumnUSB members at that time.

Help us keep contributing!

We are a platform for alumni and people in general to connect and support Universidad Simón Bolívar (Venezuela) through fundraising programs.

2016-2020

Donation of 100 Computers for USB: At the request of the Rectoral authorities, we started a fundraiser to update computer equipment in academic and administrative units. The computers were delivered by AlumnUSB to the inter-institutional relations office, which together with the Authorities assigned them to the departments that needed them the most.

2016-2022

“Libros de Punta para una Biblioteca de Punta”: This program simplified the process of donating books to the USB, allowing the Libraries of both campuses to be updated. More than 1,000 copies (new and used) in good condition were donated to the USB Central Library and then to the Reading Rooms of the different degrees across the institution. The program began under the management of the Library Director until 2021, Prof. Alejandro Teruel.

2016-Present

Donation Challenge: Each year USB administrative units and departments are invited to send us their “needs and wants” in the form of projects using the AlumnUSB platform to achieve their fundraising goals and subsequently equip laboratories, computer rooms, classrooms, among many other USB needs. More than 30 projects have been funded in this way.

2019

  • Repair of USB-owned transport units: The Venezuelan Ministry of higher education refused to pay the debt to the contractors who provided maintenance services to USB transport units, thus bringing such services to an immediate halt. More than half of the “Uesebista” community (professors, employees and students) depended on buses to get to campus, causing disruption to academic work. AlumnUSB managed to repair and maintain 26 transport units that provided service until March 2020.
  • Let’s light up the USB: In this case, the students from the Federation of Student Centers who organized to tackle another of the problems of our university at that time: the lack of lighting on campus.
