Gabriel Golczer Gatti
President – Co-Founder – Chief Volunteer Officer (CVO)
Graduated from USB with a degree in Biology ( 02 – Graduated in 2008) and a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences (08 – Graduated in 2012), he also holds a PhD in Biology from Tufts University (Massachusetts, USA). During his studies at USB he was involved in various activities within USB organizations, such as being Student Representative to the USB Board of Directors and then elected 2nd alternate to the Graduates’ Representation to the same body, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the USB Foundation for Student Development (FONDESIBO) first as a student representative and then as a representative of the graduates, he was President of the USB Biology Student Center, among others. As a graduate, he continued to contribute his time and energy to USB, being part of the Board of Directors of the USB Alumni Association (AEUSB) for 6 years (2009-2015). He has led AlumnUSB since its inception, focusing on building a global network of volunteers and donors to support his Venezuelan Alma Mater. He worked in 2019 as a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School, specifically at the Cancer Research Center of Massachusetts General Hospital, where he performed Computational Biology on several projects studying cancer. He now works as a Senior Data Scientist at a Biotechnology startup called CAMP4 Therapeutics, since 2020 where he continues to work on the analysis of biological data for the development of medicines and therapeutics for liver and central nervous system diseases.
Ariagne V. Aaronson

Graduated from USB in Materials Engineering with a Major in Metallurgy (Cohort 99) and an MBA with a specialization in Business Analytics and Marketing from Babson F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business (Massachusetts, USA).
Currently serving as Senior Director of Sales and Marketing Operations at OptimizeRX Corporation in Boston, MA, USA, where she leads initiatives to align sales and marketing strategies, leveraging her experience to maximize efficiency and drive revenue growth. Prior to her current role, Ari held positions as Director of Sales and Marketing Operations, Marketing Technology Manager, and Sales Engineer.
Ari lives with her husband and son in Massachusetts, and in her free time she enjoys traveling, exercising, hiking, and spending time with her family.
José Velásquez
Vice-president
José received his Bachelor of Electronics Engineering from USB in February 2011 and is from Cohort 05. He then received his Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Ohio State University in Columbus,OH in May 2013. He is a proud “Uesebista” and is always looking for opportunities to support his beloved Alma Mater. He joined the AlumnUSB Board in February 2018.
Alejandro Machado
Director
Alejandro graduated in Computer Engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar (2013), and in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University (2014). He has worked for Spotify, Zazzle, mycs.com and other software startups, and is currently focused on providing human-centered design for decentralized technology projects. He started organizing the #UnCafexUSB meetups in Berlin in 2015 and joined the AlumnUSB Board of Directors in February 2018.
Raúl Sananes
Treasurer
Raúl graduated as an Electronic Engineer from USB in 2006. As a student at USB, thanks to the international exchange program, he studied for two years at the UPC in Barcelona, Spain, where he obtained a degree in Telecommunications Engineering and an MSc in ICT. In Venezuela he worked as a Pre-Sales Engineer at Telefónica and founded Cuponidad Venezuela. In 2014 he received his MBA from USC in LA, California. In 2017 he started working at Google, where he has worked as a Project Manager on YouTube, Android, and ChromeOS in the San Francisco Bay Area. Raúl started the #UnCafexUSB meetups in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2015 and joined the AlumnUSB Board of Directors in 2017.
Alex Chaim
Co-Founder - Director
PhD in Biological Engineering from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). His research consisted in the development of methods to measure DNA repair capacity with applications in cancer prevention and treatment. Graduated with a degree in Biology from USB (Graduated in 2008). During his studies at USB he was a very active student in student representation as Vice-President of the Biology Student Center and Student Representative to the Advisory Board of the Biology Coordination.
Anthony Verdesca
Director
Anthony graduated in Mechanical Engineering - Cum Laude from Universidad Simón Bolívar in 2015. His career has taken him to work in Germany and the United States in the Manufacturing and Automation industries. During his studies at USB, he participated in the construction of the Käi CS-2, the second solar car of the USB Solar group, that competed in Chile in 2012 during the Atacama Solar Challenge. In November 2018, he joined AlumnUSB as an ambassador for Ann Arbor & Detroit, Michigan, in addition to supporting in the area of social media. He joined the AlumnUSB board in April 2024.
In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, doing sports statistical analysis, volunteering at animal shelters, and traveling.

MPP graduate from the University of Chicago, with an MSc in Finance and a B.S. in Engineering. Proficient in project management and delivering measurable social impact, with a focus on data-driven decision-making. Renowned for cultivating strong relationships with partners across nonprofit, corporate, and philanthropic sectors, fostering collaboration, and leveraging data to drive collective change.

Carolina Chang
Fundraiser & Relations Specialist
Graduated from USB in Computer Engineering ( 85 - Graduated in 1990). She holds an M.Sc. from UCV (1994) in Operations Research and a PhD from Boston University (1999) in Cognitive and Neural Systems. She is a retired professor from USB, belonging to the Department of Computing and Information Technology. She held the position of Head of the Information Technology Laboratories at USB (Laboratory F). She was a member of the USB Volunteer Fire Department, reaching the position of Second Commander of the institution. She is a member of the Artificial Intelligence Group at USB.
Sofia Guerra
Executive Manager
Graduated in Mechanical Engineering (Card 03 – Graduated in 2009). She is a Project Manager at Harris Computer, a technology company based in Canada. She is licensed as a Scrum Master, Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and Organizational Coach. She has worked with clients such as 3M, Revlon, Henkel, as well as multilateral organizations such as the World Bank and has participated in technology projects in Latin America, the USA and Canada, leading multidisciplinary teams at a global level. During her studies at USB she actively participated as Academic Secretary of the Federation of Student Centers (FCEUSB 2007-2008), as Student Representative in the Academic Council (2008-2009) and after her graduation she was Representative of the Graduates in the Superior Council of USB (2010-2012). She works as the main link between the Board of Directors, the Executive Team and volunteers in AlumnUSB. She also volunteers in medicine collection and donation initiatives in Caracas (@ImpacientesVzla). In her free time, she enjoys traveling and getting to know new cultures; she has already visited almost 15 countries in recent years.
Marinés Hernández
Graphic Designer
From a very early age she has had a taste and inclination for the arts, design and crafts. This is how her life around design began. Later she entered the Architecture career at the University of Zulia (LUZ), to then continue her studies and complement this career with Graphic Design at the READIC University Institute of Technology – UNIR. Within the field of architecture she is inclined towards the digitalization of plans, 3D design and modeling, internal and external architectural views, rendered or photorealistic images, complete planimetry of projects. In the field of Graphic Design she is inclined towards the advertising area (marketing) for both print and digital media, business cards, corporate identity and POP material. Marinés is a Graphic and Creative Designer at AlumnUSB.

María graduated with a degree in Liberal Studies from Universidad Metropolitana de Caracas in 2019. Since 2016, she has worked on various communication and research teams. Although she is not a Uesebista, she feels deeply connected to social causes, which is why she has connected with AlumnUSB in her role as Community Manager.
